My roles on this production were as a creative, producer, co-host, talent manager and scriptwriter.
What is it?
Hungry Talks is a student-led, online seminar series, connecting budding creatives and our RMIT Bachelor of Advertising students with experts in the industry. This year, we revamped the show to combine the fun of 70s game shows with the innovation of the ad industry.
Co-ordinating a team of 23 Advertising and Live Media students, we aired 10 live episodes, featuring pre-recorded content, including a collaboration with B&T for our Hungry News segment.
Our 29 guests were from all sides of the advertising industry (from policy-makers to those who went brand side), and both national and international. We scored Russel Howcroft and Kimberlee Wells (CEO of TBWA\Melbourne), Andrew Hutchison (head of creative and production of Walt Disney), and many more wonderful guests.
Always have a backup plan...
Going into this project we had no idea what a thrilling challenge it would be. We set out tasks that many would think were overly ambitious; turning a weekly lecture series into a full-blown live production. Our initial team of 5 grew to 21 before we knew it.
This project has shoved me out of my comfort zone. Co-hosting every week meant squashing my fear of presenting, remaining calm and thinking on my toes when the unpredictable popped up.
